Taquile is a charming island located in the Titicaca Lake and it can be reached after making a journey of 24 km from Puno. Its inhabitants are dressed in with colorful traditional costumes (sold at the local cooperative), they speak Quechua and maintain a loyalty for their community.

The Inca terraces and ruins dot the landscape. The island is devoid of hotels, electricity, roads, vehicles and dogs. The locals provide modest accommodation and restaurants serve what they have: fresh trout and boiled potatoes.
