La Serena

The coastal city of La Serena, with an extraordinary historical and economic importance, is one of the oldest post-Columbian populations of Chile.

The silver, copper and agriculture in the region were so important that the town had its own mint (Casa de la Moneda). Today, La Serena retains its colonial appearance and is threatening the supremacy of Viña del Mar as a leading tourist resort on the coast.

 

Apart from its beautiful beaches, we can also visit museums, numerous picturesque villages and vineyards in the surrounding area.
